<br /> 1. Construction of ecology biock wall should proceed immediately following completion of cut banks and keyway
<br /> trenches.
<br /> 2 The base-course blocks sliould be set on a minimum 6-inch layer of compacted 7/8-inch crushed rock base over
<br /> firm undisturbed subgrade soils of 3,000 psf bearing capacity, and should be embedded at least 12 inches below
<br /> the finish grade in front of the walls.
<br /> 3. A 5-inch-minimum, perforated, PVC drain pipe fitted with a non•woven filter fabric sock should be placed behind the
<br /> base-course blocks of the block wall. Water in drain line should be tightlined to discharge into a storm sewer or a
<br /> suitable stormwater disposal faciiity.
<br /> 4. Structural fill should consist of ciean granular soils iree of organics and debris, with partictes no larger than 4 inches.
<br /> 5. A vertical drainage blanket, consisting of compacted 718•inch crushed rock wlth a thickness of at least 12 inches
<br /> horizontally, should be placed against the back oF block wall.
<br /> 6. The drainage blanket crushed rock fill and structural fill should be placed in lifts no more than 10 incties in loose
<br /> state aftar completion oi each course of blocks, with each li(t compacted wilh a vibretory mechanical compactor to
<br /> at least 95%of the maximum dry density determined by ASTM 01557 (Modified Proctor method)
<br /> 7. Geogrid mesh should be laid over Flat fiil surface, securely anchored between lwo rows of blocks at one end and
<br /> stretched tight and staked down at the other end, before placing the next lift uf fill. Overlap of geogrid mesh should
<br /> be at least 12 inches along direction of wall alignment and not allowed in direction perpendicular to wall alignment.
