' ' .
; ',`:. :`_. .
=: , . :. A continuous 24-hour noise measurement was conducted on August 6-7, 1991 at the
.,;. ,
E ; '., •, proposed duplex site using a Digital Acoustics DA607P noise monitoring system. The
; ` : measurement location was 30 feet west of the fence that overlooks interstate- at the east
;S'`:' ', end of the property, and corresponds approximately to the setback of the proposed duplex.
, The noise monitor was placed at the top of the ravine that descends toward Intrstate- so
that a reasonably clear sightline was maintained between the freeway and the monitor.
The measurement data, theretore, represents "worst-case" noise exposure for backyard and
ground floor locations.
Due to the rapid change in elevation benveen the developmenc site and I-5, a measurement
of freeway traffic noise was made with a 2-channel tape recorder. The purpose of this
measurement was t determine the difference in noise levei between first and second floor
receiving locations in the proposed duplex. The measurement location was approximately 6
feet wesc of the east fence with the channel-1 microphone ac a height of approximately ti
feet and the channel-2 microphone at a height of approximately 12 feet. The measurement
equipmeit consisted of a Nagra [V-SJ tape recorder and nvo Larson-Davis 2541
microphones with General Radio 1560-P42 preamplifiers.
