i
 .. ,
ASSOCIATED
EAFITH I
SCIENCES, INC
January 5 , 1989
Project No. 8812-23A
Mr. David Bigelow
5126 Narbeck
Everett , WA 98203
Subject : Bearing Evaluation '
1614 Edgemoor Lane - Lot 17 Crestwood Subsidivion
Everett, Washington
Dear Mr. Bigelow:
As requested by you, we have performed a bearing evaluation of the
foundation soils at Lot 17 of the Crestwood Subdivision at the
above-noted address. A representative from our firm was on site on
January 3 , 1989 to visually inspect the site and conduct probing of
the bearing sediments with a steel soils probe .
It is our understanding that an approximately 1 , 200 square foot I
single family residence is to be constructed on the lot . The
residence will consist of a single story with a daylight basement i
and utilize conventional wood framing and slab on grade floors. ,
The site was located on the north side of a small hill that slopes i
to the north and east at approximately a 3H: 1V (Horizontal :Vertical) I
grade. Three level benches had been cut into the slope to provide
pads for the footings . Some surface puddles of water were noted at
the time of our investigation , but no other ground water was
observed.
There were two types of sediments under the footing locations . A
medium stiff to stiff, moist, light brown, blocky, clayey silt was
found under the majority of the top bench and on the western halves
of the lower two bencltes . To the east of the clayey silts , we
observed a medium dense , moist , orangish brown , silt,y , fine to
, medium sand. The extent and origin of the disturbed zone of clayey
silts is undetermined at this time . !
it is our opinion that the slope is presently stable although we are Ili
unaware of any regional slope stability or seismic ar.alysis
conducted on this slope. Therefore, the above mentioned sediments
will provide suitable foundation support for the proposed single
family res; dence . The disturbed and water softened materials should
be removed from the footing and slab locations prior to placing
footing concrete . We also recommend that water collected from
impermeable .surfaces be collected in tightlined drains and either
connected to a storm sewer system or be conducted to a suitable
discharge site away from the slope.
911 - Sth Avenue Suite 100 Kirkland, Washington 98033 (206) 827-7701
t.
