Air is
captured in the bag, and the bag is shaken to expose the soil to the air uapped in the bag. The
probe of a Bachazach TLV Sniffer is inserted in the bag, and the TLV Sniffer measures the
wncentration of combustible vapors present within the sample bag headspace. Headspace vapor
screening targets volatile petroleum hydrocarbon compounds. The TLV Sniffer measures
combustible vapor concentrations 9n ppm (ps per million) and is calibrated to hexane. The
TLV Sniffer is designed to quantify combustible gas concentrations up to 10,000 ppm•
Field screening techniques did not indicate the pcesence of petroleum-related compounds
at the site. Petroleum sheens and combustible headspace vapors were not detected in the soil
samples. Visual examination of soil from test piu and surface azeas of the site did not indicate
the presence of any contaminants at the site.
CONLUSIONS
Minimal amounts of fill and/or loose topsoil were observed at the site. Native soils consist
of ineclium dense sand with varyng amounts of silt and gravel. Our subsurface obsenatioas of
the native tap of slope ue in good agreement with the Top of Bank line mazked on the "Hoyt
Short Plat" dated March 1, 1994. We recommend a minimum setback of 25 feet from the native
top of slope for residential buildings at the site. In our opinion the slope toward Pigeon Creek
No. 2 will remain stable provided that site drainage is not routed over the top of the slope.
Baae3 on field screening and visual examination of subsurface and surface soils at the site,
in our opinion, there is no indication of L5e presence of contaminants at the site. In our opinion,
the methods used to evaluate the potential contamination are consistent with WAC
173-340-310(2).
_ O ►
We uvst that this letter meets your needs and satisfies the City of Everett requirements.
Please cail if you have ques[ions regarding this letter.
Yours very truly,
GeoEngineers, Inc.
,
W.
