1 <br /> February 27, 2009 <br /> Sultan Crossing <br /> L&A Job No. 9AOOR <br /> Page 4 <br /> After the steel pipe pile is driven to refusal, the steel pipc pilcs should bc bolted onto the concretc <br /> piers with dowel bazs epoxy-grouted in holes drilled into the concrete piles, as shown on Plate l. <br /> Also to be installed aze a pair of helical anchors installed on the sidcs of each concrete piers to be <br /> strcngthened. A steel channel is then set on top of the stecl pipe piles and bolted onto the <br /> concrete piers. The helical anchors are then stressed as much as possible with a pipe ��Tench, <br /> then locked off against the steel channel. The pair of helical anchors of each concrete pier should <br /> be stresscd simultuneous to maintain balancc of the channcl against the concrete pier. <br /> Aftcr the above work is completed. The excavated pits should bc backfilled wilh cican onsite <br /> granular soils. Thc soils should be placed in lil�s no more than 10 inches thick.
