deformation. The twist in the anchors ranged from as much as 90 degrees per 2.5-fect
(anchors #8 and 10) to a minimum of 45-degrees in 2 feet (anchor#5). Based on the
steel twisting, we expect that the anchors were installed to a torque of at least 5,500 ft-
Ibs, which is greater than the required 3,900 foot-lbs on this project.
The brackets used to jack up the house were CI50-0298 brackets with a working capacity
of 40 kips each. In our opinion, this is adequate to support your house.
In our opinion, these anchors will stabilize the portion of the house supported by them.
As noted in our report, the deep loose soils extend farther to the east on the south wall but
there doesn't appear to be any detrimental effects, probably due to the higher stem wall in
that area. The soils encountered in our explorations were granufaz and therefore we
expect settlement to have occurred as the structure was constructed and loaded the first
time. "fherefore, we do not expect future settlement on the east end of the south wall.
However, we recommend that you be observant and if signs of settlement occur in this
area, you tahe steps to add additional anchors.
'Chank you for this opportunity to serve you.
Sincerely,
HWA GeoSciences > _p(+ • 1
nF K'Sy!'6.
.h~ ` Ci ,
; !`Y o , /(./p'j
'' 7
 ,.:,; ,
 i:•;: _
I/i N ., : '
,\R I'.'t
Y' 4
 _ -'t
:.r
"l_ ;,. .
;....,....,o„'^`°:',-....-!
 -. , m'.',
Susan Robarge Thomas Kinney, Ph.D., P.E..
Geotechnical Engineer Vice-President
3
