The contractor had begun <br /> backfilling behind an approximate 8-foot high, 50-foot long ��en�/retaining wall along the southem <br /> porlion of the ne�e residence. Backfill was bcing placed as structural fill, planued lor use in suppon of <br /> the future southcm residence footing line. The locations of our observations are indicatcd on the Sitc <br /> Plan, Page 3. <br /> We observed structural fill ccmpaction. Structural fill was placed in approximate one-foot thick lifts, <br /> compactcd with a hcavy-duty walk-bchind platc compactor. The stn�ctural fill material consisted of <br /> native, on-site, light gray to orangish-brown fine sand with trace gravel. Our compaction observations <br /> wcrc at an approaimate 2.5-foot fill hcight, oCthc appro�imatc G.5-foot total planncd fll hcight bchind <br /> thc wall. <br /> Wc cvaluated structural fill compaction using a '/-inch diamctcr stecl probe iod anJ a nudear <br /> densometcr. Thc fill areas probed behvicen 2 anJ 4 inchcs on a��cragc, under moderate pressure. In- <br /> placc dcnsity test results indicalcd 9� prrccnt or grcatcr rclativc compaction per .4STA4 D-1557, <br /> modificd proctor <br /> It is our opinion that thc strucWral (ill ❑rca cvaluatcd today is bcing suitably prcparcd, and should <br /> provide adcquate support for the planncd tooting line.
