<br /> A. The director of public works is authorized to establish design and consWction standards for
<br /> sewer connection and all connedions with pubifc sewers or drains shall be made in a woricmanlike
<br /> manner and in accordance wfth the city design and construction standards.
<br /> B. All excavaHons made in any street or alley shall be protected and guarded by such pertnittee,
<br /> both by day and night, with the proper display of signals and lights, and the pertnittee shall be
<br /> responsible for all accidents caused by negligence in this respect. Work in the street must be done
<br /> in a manner that will occasion the least inconvenience to the public. One-half of the sheet must be
<br /> kept clear for the passage of vehicles, and bridgeways must be provided on �idewalks tor foot
<br /> passengers. As soon as any such sewer or drain is completed and inspected, the pertnittee and/or
<br /> sewer contractor in charge of such work shall immediatety restore and maintain all sheets,
<br /> sidewalks, parking sfips and other public areas disturbed or altered in the course of any side sewer
<br /> or drainage woric to the original surface condkion and, in the event the applicant fails to immediately
<br /> restore the area to its original condition, the city shall make such restoratlon and charge the cost
<br /> thereof to the applicant who shall, upon receiving written notice of the amount, make immediate
<br /> payments thereof to the cily treasurer. Atl sewer trenches which have aettled due to inadequate I
<br /> backfilling operations sha(I be immediately restored by permittee and he shall at all times remain
<br /> liable therofor. All work within the limits of any street or alley must be prosecuted to compietion with
<br /> due dilfgence, and if, in the judgment of the inspedor, any excavaHon is left open beyond a
<br /> reasonable time he shall c.3use the same to be filled and the street or alley restored forthwith, and ,
<br /> any cost incurred in such work shall be charged to the pe;mittee and/or the sewer contrador in
<br /> charge of such work, and must be paid for before he shall receive any fuRher pertnft. Permittee shall
<br /> be responsible to follow all satety regulations, particularly but not IfmRed to shoring of excavations
<br /> over four feet deep. If any work done in pursuance of permit granted as heretofore prescribed be not
<br /> constructed and completed in accordance with the plan filed, and to the acceptance of the inspector,
<br /> and the permittee or iicensed conhactor shall refuse to properly construct and complete the work,
<br /> notice thereof shall be given to the owner of the property for whom the work is being done and the
<br /> city shall proceed to complete and connect the sewer in a proper manner, and the full cost of such
<br /> wark and materials necessary therefor shall be charged and become a lien against the property and
<br /> shall be collected in the manner provided for such liens.
<br /> C. Not more than one building shall be connected to a side sewer, except by permission of the
<br /> director of public wo�ks. In all cases where there are houses on separate lots, they must be
<br /> connected separately to the main sewer, whether such lots are owned b t same person b
<br /> different ersons. o ouses are si a on e same lot, one connection to the main sewer may
<br /> �be permitted if a b the director of public works.

<br /> E. All vaults or privies shall be disinfected and filied wfth fresh earth and all septic tanks,
<br /> cesspools and similar installations shall be disinfected and filled with fresh earth at the time of the
<br /> discontinuance of the use thereof.
<br /> F. 8efore any side sewer may be located on any private pmperty, other than that owned by the
<br /> owner of the side sewer, the owner of the side sewer shall secure from the owner of such property a
<br /> written easem2nt, duly acknowledged, granti�g the right to occupy such property for such purpose.
