We �derotood thet the failure occurred on either October let or 2nd at ahich time a special caet iron fitting namely 14"x14'k 10" "Y" rupt�sed permitting the sewage to escape within tha station and f lood the piaping room area and escape through the door to the ad�actat properties . On the encloaed drawiag We have merked in red the cast iron fitting which failed . After the required clean-aut �:ime� the City forces .rern able to put the station back into service by anbatituting a etraight run of pipe in place of thie fitting and oparate the ataCion With two of the esieting p�pe . This style of fitting ie not a standard shelf itea and must be ordered � the etation will operate temporaril.y in the menner adopted by the City. We carefully examined the ruptured fitting and the. facea along the mtire fract�ae ahow no eigne thet Chere had been any preliminary cracking prior to the actual rupture, [hus � in- dicating tbat no amotmt of apecial raeintenance or inapection prior to tha rupt�ace vould have givnn anq prior aarning.
