Subsurface Ecploration, Geologic Hazard, and
Everett Schoo!Disrrict Maintenance Faciliry Preliminary Gtotechnical Engineering Report
Everett, Woshin ron Design Rtcommendations
5.4 Ground Motion
It is our opinion that any earthquake damage to the proposed building could be caused by a
combination of intensity and acceleration associared with the event. This is based on he site
stratigraphy and visual recoimaissance of the site. Strucmral design of the building should
follow current Uniform Building Code (UBC) standards for seismic Zone 3 and a soil profile
type Su. No additional mitigation efforts are necessary.
6.0 EROSION HAZARDS AND MI1'IGATION
To mitigate and reduce the erosion potcntial and off-site sediment transport during
conswction, we recommend the following:
1) All storm water from impermeable surfaces including driveways, parking arcas.
and roofs should be discharged into the storm sewer system.
2) Temporary sediment catchment facilities may be constructed to intercept
sediment eroded during the construction phases of the proposed project prior to
the storm water's discharge into the storm sever system.
\ 3) Check dams should be used to control surface run-off across the site and silt
fence should be placed along the lower elevations.
4) Earthwork should proccrd during the drier periods of the year if possible and
disturbed areas should be covered or revegetated as soon as possible.
5) Soils, which are to be reused around the site should be stored in such a manner
as to reduce erosion. Protective measures may include, but are not necessarily
limited to, covering with ptastic sheeting, the use of graded stockpiles, and/or
the use of hay bales and silt fences to surround the stockpiles.
1"ry 1, 2001 ASSOClATED F1RTH SC/ENCES, INC.
JDC.'c'a-XEOlOSIAI-D:IMpIM1-01-N^_X Page 6
O
