5-28.2 Matcrials <br /> Portland cement concre:e, reinforcing s:cel, forms and curing materials shall <br /> conform to the rcquirements ir� Section 5 of the Standard Specifications. <br /> 5-283 Constniction Requirements <br /> Site Preparation and Grading: The staked area where ccment concrete stairways <br /> and landings arc lo be constructed shall be cleared, grubbed and graded in <br /> accordance with the applicable requirenients in Section 2 of the Standard <br /> Specifications and these Special Provisions. <br /> Sub-grade Preparation and Forms: Sub-grade preparation and compaction <br /> required in preparing a proper sub-grade for cement concrete stairways and <br /> landings shall conform to the applicable requirements for sub-gradc for <br /> pavement as specified in Section 2 of the Standard Specifications and shall be <br /> acceptablc to the Engineer. <br /> rorms may be of any suitable material provided the material used will form a <br /> finished cement concrete stairway or stairway landing of dense concrete <br /> conforming to the alignment, grade, and cross sectiun dimensions required by <br /> lhe construction plans. <br /> Reinforcing Steel: Reinforcing steel for cement concrete stainvays shall be <br /> placed as sho�vn on the standard plan. The steel shall be asscmbled and <br /> securely tied with annealed wire of not less than No. 16 gauge at each bar lap or <br /> crossing and be rigidly supporled in the plan location during the concrete <br /> placement. <br /> Placing Concrete, Finishing and Curing: Concrete for stainvays and landings <br /> shall be Class 3000 unless othenvise ordered by the Engineec Placing, <br /> finishing, and curing shall confomi to the applicablc rcquircmcnts in Scction 5 <br /> of the Standard Specifications as they would apply to cement concrete stainvay <br /> consWction. Front and side edging of stair lrcads shall be to a radius of 1/2". <br /> Landings for stainvays shall be marked as specified for concrete side�valks in <br /> Section 8-14 of th� Standard Specifications except that transverse and <br /> longitudinal markings shatl be modified as neccssary to result in uniform sizc of <br /> squares in each landing. Wherc guttcrs are along the side of the stairways, thc <br /> gutter portion of the stainvay landing shall bc smooth finishcd without markings <br /> to conform with the stainvay guttcr. <br /> �y_ <br />
