Lighting - General Requirements
<br />�b�3 Lighting Controls. Llghting, including oxemp[ Iighting
<br />in Section 'IS'12, shall comply with this sedion. Whore
<br />occupanry sensors are citod, they shaU havo thc features
<br />Iisted In Section 7513.6.'I. Where automatic time switches aro
<br />citod, thoy shull have tho features listed In Section 'I5�3.6.2.
<br />�613.'I Local Control and Accessibllity: Each space,
<br />anclosed by walls or coiling-holght partitions, shall bo provided
<br />with lighting cantrols locatod within that space. The lighting
<br />controls, wholher ane or more, shall bo capable of tuming off
<br />all Iights within the space. Tho contro�s shall 6e roadily
<br />acce55ible, at the polnt of enlry/exit, to porsonnel occupying or
<br />using the spacc.
<br />EXCEPTIONS: The following Iighting controls may 6e
<br />centmlizod in remato locations:
<br />'I. Lighling wntrols for spaces which must be usod
<br />as a whole.
<br />2. Automatic wntrols.
<br />3. Con[rols requiring trained oporators.
<br />4. Controls for safety hazards and secunty.
<br />95'13.2 Arua Controls: The ciaxlmum lighting pawer that may
<br />bo contrailed from a single switch or automatic control shali not
<br />exteed that which is provlded by a twonty ampero circuit
<br />loaded to not moro than eighty percont. A master control may
<br />ba installad providod tha individual switches retain their
<br />capa6ility to function Independontly. Circuit hreakers may not

<br />15�3.3 DayliBht Zone Controi: All dayligh�ed zonos, as
<br />definod In Chaptar 2, both under ovorhoad gla:ing and
<br />adjaeont to vertical glazing, shall be provided with individual
<br />controls, or daylight-or occupant-sensing automatic controls,
<br />which control tho 119hts indopendent of genoral area lighting.
<br />Contiguous daylight zones adjacent to verticai glazing are
<br />allowed to be controlletl by a singlo controlling device providod
<br />that thoy do nat includo zones facing more than two adjacent
<br />wrdinol orientafions (i.o. north, cast, south, west). Uaylight
<br />zones undor overhoad glazing more than 15 foot from the
<br />pertmeter shall be controllod separateiy from daylight zones
<br />adJacent to vertical glazing.
<br />EXCEPTION:
<br />Daylight s �ces encbsed by walls or celling

<br />'15�3.4 Display, Exhibition, and Speclalty Lightfnp
<br />Controis: All display, exhibition, or spocialty lighting shall be
<br />controllad indopondontly of goncral area lighting.
<br />'IS'I3.5 Automatic ShubOH Controls, Exterior: EMerlor
<br />lighting not intended for 24-hour continuous use sha�l 6e
<br />automatically switchod by timor, photocell, or a comb{natian of
<br />timer and photocoll. Automatic ilme switches must alsa h�vo
<br />program back-up capahilitlos, which prevent tho loss of
<br />program and tlmo settings for at I�ast'10 hours, if powor is
<br />interrupted.
<br />�6�3.6 Automatle Shut-0H Controls, �nterior: Buildings
<br />greaterthan 5,000 sq, ft. and all school classroorns shall be
<br />aquipped with separato automatic cantrols to shut oH the
<br />Ilghting during unaccupied hours. Within these buildings, alI
<br />o(fico aroas loss than 300 ft� enclosed by walls or ceiling-
<br />hoight partitions, and all meeting antl conferenco rooms, and
<br />all schooi classrooms, shall bo equlpped with occupancy
<br />sensors that comply Soction 1513.6.'I. For athcr spaces,
<br />automalic controis may ba an occupancy sonsor, time switch,
<br />or othor davi�.o capablo of automatically shutting off Ilghting.
<br />EXGEPTIONS:
<br />'I. Arcas that must bc continuously Illuminated (o.g.,
<br />24-hour convenience ztores), or illuminated In a
<br />manner requlring manuai operation of tho
<br />lighting.
<br />2. Emorgency lighting systems.
<br />3. Swilching for industrial or manufacturing process
<br />facllities as may bo roqulrod for productlon.
<br />4. !iaspitals and labora[ary spacos.
<br />5. Areas In which medical or dental tasks are
<br />p�,rtortned are exempt from tho occupancy
<br />sensor requlrement
<br />15'13.6.'I Occupaney Sensors: Occupancy sonsors shall be
<br />capablo of automa:ically tuming off all the lights In an area, no
<br />moro than 30 minutes after the area has been vacated. Light
<br />fixturas controlled by occupancy sensors shall hove a wall-
<br />mounled, manual switch wpablo of tuming oH Iights when tho
<br />space is occu�led.
<br />'IS'i3.62 AutomaHc Timc Sviitches: Automatic time switches
<br />shall havo a minimum 7 day clock and bo co.pable of 6oing set
<br />for 7 difforont day Typos por wock and incorporato an
<br />automatic holiday "shut-oN' feature, which tums o1f all loads for
<br />at least 24 haurs and then rosumes normally schedulod
<br />opomtions. Auromatic timo �wilches sholl alsa havo program
<br />back-up capabilitles, whlch pravent the ioss of program and
<br />timo seltings for �[ laast 10 hours, if p�r+er is in[orrupted.
<br />Automatic tirr.e switches shall incorporato an over-ride
<br />switching device which:
<br />a) is readily accessible;
<br />b) Is ioc�tod so that a person using tho dovice can see the
<br />lights or tho areas controlled by the switch, or so that tho
<br />area boing illuminated is annunciated; and
<br />c) is manual�y operatod;
<br />d) allows tha Iighting to remaln on for no moro than lwn hours
<br />when an overvride is initiated; and
<br />a) controlc an area not oxcaoding 5,000 squarc fae[ or 5
<br />percont of foo[print for footprints ovor'100,000 squaro fcet,
<br />whichover is groater.
<br />�5�3.7 Commissioning Requirements: For lighting controls
<br />whlch Includo doylight or occupant sensing automatic controls,
<br />automatic shuf-off controls, occupancy sensors, of automatic
<br />timo switches, tho lighting controls shall bo tested [o unsure
<br />that cantrol devicos, components, oquipment and systortu aro
<br />catibratad, adusted and opo2to in accordance with approved
<br />plans and spedficatlons. Sequences of opomtion shall be
<br />functionally tested to ensuro thoy operate In accordanco with
<br />approved plans and specifications. A cumplete report of test
<br />proceduras and rosults shal� bo preparad and filed with lho
<br />ownor. Drawing notes shall require commissloning in
<br />accordance with thls pamgraph.
