303.7 Sprinkler and Standpipe Systems. When required by Section 904.2.1 or other provisions of thic code, eulomalic <br />sprinkler syslems and standpipes shall be designed and installed as specified in Chapter 9. <br />303.8 Special Hazards. Chimneys and heating apparalus shail confortn to lhe requirements of Chapter 31 of this code <br />and the Mechanical Code. <br />Motion picture machine rooms shall conlorm to the requirements of Chapter 4. <br />AI� e#erior openings in a boiler room or rooms conlaining central healing equipment, if iocated below openings in <br />anolher story or if less than 10 feel (3048 mm) irom olher doors or windows of lhe same building, shall be prolected <br />by a fire assembly having a three•fourths-hour tire•protection rating. Such fire assembiies shall be tixed, automatic <br />closing or self-closing. <br />Class I, II or III•A liquids shall not be placed, stored or used in Group E Occupancies, except in approved quantities <br />as necessary in laboratories and classrooms and tor operation and maintenance as set forth in the Fire Code. <br />303.9 Fire Alarm Systems. An approved fire alarm system shail be provided tor Group E Occupancies with an occupant <br />load of 50 or more persons. In Group E Occupancies provided wilh an automatic sprinkler or detection system, the <br />operation of such system shall automatically activate the school fire alarm system, which shall inc�ude an alarm <br />mounted on the exlerior of the building <br />See Chapter 10 tor smoke-detection requirements. <br />For installation requiremenls, see the Fire Code. <br />310 REOUIREMENTS FOR GROUP 4 OCCUPANCIES <br />310.1 Group R Occupancies Defined. Group R Occupancies shall be: <br />Division 1. Hoteis and apartment houses. <br />Congregale residences (each accommodaling more ihan 10 persons). <br />Division 2. Not used. <br />Division 3. Dwellings, tamily child day care homes and lodging houses. <br />Congregate residences (each accommodating 10 persons or less). <br />Fosler Family Care Homes iicensed by lhe Washinglon Slate Department of Social and Health Services shail be <br />permilled, as an accessory use to a dwelling unit, for six or fewer children including lhose of the resident tamily. <br />For occupancy separations, see Table 3-B. <br />A complete code for conslruction of detached one• and two-family dwellings is in Appendix Chapter 3, Division III, of <br />this code. When adopted, as sel forlh in Seclion 101.3, il will take precedence over lhe other requiremenis sel forlh <br />in this code. <br />310.2 Conslruction, Height and Rllowable Area. <br />3102.1 General. Buildings or paris of buildings classed in Group R because of the use or character of lhe occupancy shall <br />ba limited to the types of construclion set forth in Table 5-B and shall not exceed, in area or height, ihe limits <br />specified in Sections 504, 505 and 506. <br />310.2.2 Special provisions.
