EVERETT CITY COUNCIL AGENDA ITEM COVER SHEET
PROJECT TITLE:
Consent COUNCIL BILL#
Service Agreement X Action Originating Department Public Works
Transferring the Port's First Reading Contact Person Tom Thetford
Rail/Barge Transfer Facility Second Reading Phone Number 257-8824
Site Service Area to the Third Reading FOR AGENDA OF Jules 6 , 2005
Mukilteo Water District Public Hearing
Initialed by:
Department Head
CAA
Council President
Location Preceding Action Attachments Department(s) Approval
West City limits None Agreement Legal
Amount Budgeted $0.00
Expenditure Required $0.00 Account Number(s): fund 401
Budget Remaining $0.00
Additional Required $0.00
DETAILED SUMMARY STATEMENT:
Staff, at the City of Everett, has met with the Port of Everett and Mukilteo Water District to decide how best
to serve with water service the north end of the site known as the Mukilteo Tank Farm site. The Port of
Everett plans to develop this site with a rail barge transfer facility to allow transport of large airplane
manufacturing shipments via barge to the rail system and ultimately to the Boeing site. Since Mukilteo
provides water service to the area immediately south of this site, it was decided that the most cost effective
means to serve this site was through their existing water distribution system. This service agreement allows
the City of Everett to transfer this specific part of the City of Everett to the Mukilteo Water District as their
service area.
RECOMMENDATION (Exact action requested of Council):
Authorize the Mayor to sign Service Agreement transferring the Port's Rail/Barge Transfer Facility Site
service area to Mukilteo Water District.
L9
