RESOLUTION NO. 5391 <br /> A Resolution concerning the Downtown Open Spaces Committee <br /> Whereas,the City Council believes that Everett needs to plan for public places that draw <br /> our urban community together to be a vibrant, exciting place to work, shop and live,providing <br /> venues for music, drama, and the arts; and <br /> Whereas,public spaces are crucial to the financial viability of our community,to <br /> encourage desirable housing and schools,the presence of the arts and cultural resources, and <br /> parks for recreation; and <br /> Whereas, a group of private citizens called the "Downtown Open Spaces Committee" <br /> has met for several months to assess and evaluate the community's need for more open spaces <br /> and green spaces in the central business district as well as the gateway corridors leading to our <br /> city; and <br /> Whereas,the Committee has encouraged and received public input on these ideas; and <br /> Whereas,the Committee presented the City Council and Administration with its <br /> conclusions and conceptual proposals in September 2003; <br /> NOW THEREFORE,the City Council hereby acknowledges its support for the conceptual <br /> proposals presented by the Downtown Open Spaces Committee to be used as one of the tools to <br /> explore the possibilities of further revitalizing the central business district relating to expanding open <br /> spaces and green spaces throughout our community and connecting our neighborhoods and districts <br /> and further commends the members of the Committee for their substantial volunteer efforts to bring <br /> this matter to the City's attention. <br /> 4 dr i <br /> Mark Olson <br /> Councilmember Introducing Resolution <br /> Passed and approved this (.( day of October, 2003. <br /> Arlan Hatloe, Council President Doug CI; p o •.'1 e President <br /> Marian Krell, Councilmember Ron Gi'son, Councilmember <br /> ouncilmemo Bob Overstreet, Councilmember <br /> Frank E.
