ePoo/y:A <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 5329 <br /> A RESOLUTION expressing the City of Everett's support and encouragement of <br /> The Regional Partnership's efforts to revitalize the economy in the three-county region <br /> of Snohomish, King and Pierce Counties. <br /> WHEREAS, Mayor Frank Anderson and the Everett City Council are working together <br /> to maintain and improve the economic viability of the City of Everett; and <br /> WHEREAS, The Boeing Company is important to the economy of the City of Everett <br /> and maintains its largest assembly plant in the City of Everett; and <br /> WHEREAS,to maintain and improve the economic viability of the City of Everett it is <br /> important to work cooperatively with other governments, business and labor on a <br /> regional- and state-wide basis on common issues; and <br /> WHEREAS,the State of Washington and the Puget Sound region suffer from one of the <br /> highest unemployment rates in the nation; and <br /> WHEREAS, prompt action is required for the State and region to emerge from the <br /> current economic downturn; and <br /> WHEREAS, a broad-based bipartisan coalition of community, government, business, <br /> labor leaders have come together as The Regional Partnership to revitalize the economy <br /> in the three-county region of Snohomish, King and Pierce Counties; and <br /> WHEREAS, The Regional Partnership seeks to educate regarding the importance of <br /> economic development efforts in four key areas: <br /> 1. Improve Regional Transportation Now <br /> 2. Protect and Improve our Ports <br /> 3. Build Boeing Planes in Washington <br /> 4. Workforce Training and Education <br /> WHEREAS,the Mayor and Everett City Council recognize the importance of economic <br /> development efforts in these four key areas; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Everett wishes to participate in the call to action envisioned by <br /> The Regional Partnership; and <br />
