EVERETT CITY COUNCIL AGENDA ITEM COVER SHEET 1. 5
PROJECT TITLE:
Harborview Hospital Consent COUNCIL BILL#
Paramedic Training- Action Originating Department Fire
Agreement with Bay Ridge First Reading Contact Person Jack Robinson
Court Apartments Second Reading Phone Number 8115
Third Reading FOR AGENDA OF Sept. 14, 2005
Public Hearing
Initialed by:
Department Head
CAA
Council President `&((jeez_.
Location Preceding Action Attachments Department(s) Approval
Rental Agreement with Legal
Bay Ridge Court Apts.
Amount Budgeted $13,792
Expenditure Required $13,792 Account Number(s): 153-520-0000-450
Budget Remaining
Additional Required
DETAILED SUMMARY STATEMENT:
As part of our ongoing Paramedic training program at Harborview Hospital in Seattle, we have maintained an
apartment rental for the Paramedic candidates.
Justifications for the expense are multiple. The students typically are in the training for 11 months and are
assigned at the discretion of the program director. They usually work 60 to 70 hours per week on an average
and must be available when requested by the director. Due to the rigorous training required, the hardships on
the students and their families and the constant and increasing traffic gridlock to and from Seattle, we have
found maintaining an apartment in Seattle to be the most reasonable option.
RECOMMENDATION (Exact action requested of Council):
Authorize the Mayor to sign the apartment rental agreement between the City of Everett and Bay Ridge Court
Apartments for housing Everett Fire Department paramedic students while training at Harborview Medical
Center in Seattle.
