Work tasks performed to <br /> date have nearly exceeded the original budget. The items included in the amendment will <br /> reflect additional effort for the design of modifications, requested by the City during a <br /> meeting earlier this month, to the intertie between Pipeline No. 2 and 3, and to complete the <br /> remaining design tasks and miscellaneous support services during bidding and construction. <br /> Specifically, the design is to be modified so that Pipeline No. 2 is the main feed line to the <br /> Weyco Intertie Pipeline. This change will require more complicated piping alignment and <br /> valving. <br /> The original contract budget was impacted by several factors including the items and <br /> activities noted below: <br /> • The inclusion of elements of Phase A, which included various improvements and <br /> upgrades to make the Weyco Pipeline operational. These tasks were not originally <br /> budgeted and included: several additional meetings, preparation of three new plan <br /> sheets, modifications to six existing plan sheets, and the generation and incorporation of <br /> some additional specifications into the bidding documents. <br /> • The preparation of a memo describing the costs of sliplining the Weyco Pipeline. <br /> • Extended project duration, which affected the fee schedule used and the project <br /> momentum. The original contract envisioned an accelerated, four-month design <br /> schedule beginning in February 2004 and complete in June 2004.
