<br /> WHEREAS, the Assistance League of Everett is an all-volunteer organization whose philanthropic projects promote the well
<br /> being and self-esteem of children, teens and adults in Everett and throughout Snohomish County; and , 1

<br /> WHEREAS, Assistance League of Everett, a chapter of the National Assistance League formed in 1919, was founded in ,
<br /> 1965, and is celebrating 40 years of service; and

<br /> WHEREAS,Assistance League of Everett donated more then 44,500 service hours last year, returning 75% of the money X
<br /> ./e� raised directly to community projects; and
<br /> WHEREAS, Operation School Bell, founded in 1965, the primary project of the Assistance League of Everett, serves 14 tki
<br /> school districts in Snohomish Countyand has
<br /> provided school clothes to approximately 2,450 school children in need last s
<br /> year and has helped more than 44,400 school children since clothing the first student on October 5, 1965; and
<br /> WHEREAS, Operation Dent-Alert, founded in 1979, in cooperation with area dentists, provided $4,900 in dental care for 'I
<br /> four school children last year; and ,I
<br /> WHEREAS, Graduation Awards totaling $22,500 were given to 90 qualified senior students last year in 24 local high schools
<br /> to help with their senior year expenses; and
<br /> WHEREAS, Operation TeddyBear provided 75 teddy4'
<br /> Pbears last styear to h'
<br /> children who were victims of sexual assault
<br /> domestic violence or those in need of comfort in times of great stress; and

<br /> WHEREAS, Operation Self Help last year provided 49 clothing vouchers to students enrolled in the YWCA's Operation Self 4
<br /> Improvement, a nonprofit two-year program for low income people returning to the workplace; and 4 s
<br /> WHEREAS, Operation Stepping Stone provides vocational training opportunities at the Thrift Shop to help individuals 4f
<br /> enrolled at Sherwood Community Services and Community Trades &Careers; and 4
<br /> WHEREAS, Assault Survivor Kits,a project of Kitty Young Auxiliary, provides clothing and hygiene kits for rape and assault ,
<br /> ,.,,4, victims and distributes kits to five hospitals in Snohomish County; and

<br /> WHEREAS,Tees for Teens, a project of Assisteens Auxiliary, purchases T-shirts and tops for teens in need, to be '
<br /> distributed through Operation School Bell and
<br /> 11 WHEREAS, Literacy Grants (totaling $45,500) were given in the amount of$350 to each of the 130 elementary, middle and
<br /> high schools within the 14 Snohomish County school districts served by Operation School Bell to fund the purchase of books It,
