• Former President: Oak Harbor Area Council, Navy League
• Former Member: Community Advisory Group, Higher Education
Consortium with the Washington State Department of
Rep. Bailey runs her own management consulting and training firm. A
longtime professional in the hotel and hospitality industry, she has
held the position of hotel general manager and worked in leadership
positions for the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association on
regional, national and international levels.
Regarding regional issues of interest:
• Health care
• Transportation
• Rep. Bailey has been helpful in the collaborative effort to
protect and expand our military complex in Washington State
and to secure state assistance and funding. She serves on the
Joint Legislative Committee on Veterans and Military Affairs
and is on the Executive Committee with Senator Dave Schmidt,
Senator Paull Shin of Snohomish County, and Rep. Jim Moeller
from Vancouver.
• During the 2004 and 2005 sessions of the Legislature we
worked with Rep. Bailey on Base Realignment and Closure
Commission issues particularly as they impacted Naval Station
Everett and NAS Whidbey. Working closely with Island County
Commissioner Mac MacDowell, Stan Stanley and RADM Jim
Seely we were successful in gaining for BRAC-impact funding
for military-host communities, infrastructure funding for state
military installations potentially in jeopardy from BRAC actions,
and encroachment legislation to protect our bases.
• To the Navy, the DoD and BRAC we argued that Naval Station
Everett and NAS Whidbey are what the military is looking for in
terms of strategic location, capacity, flexibility and quality of life.
Both bases now thrive, and we note that on Friday NAS
Whidbey received VQ2 Fleet Air Reconnaissance Squadron
from Rota, Spain. The relocation of VQ-2's six aircraft and 450
Sailors to NAS Whidbey is in keeping with the Navy's ongoing
10/4/2005
