Descriptions of Community Development Block Grant Funded Activities <br /> 4 <br /> 1. Housing Hope New Century Village Architecture and Engineering <br /> Housing Hope will use the CDBG funds to obtain architectural and engineering design <br /> services for a proposed 25-unit low-income housing development (19 new, 6 rehabilitated <br /> units) located on 3 abutting parcels near the northeast corner of Howard Avenue and <br /> Broadway in Everett, WA. The units to be developed will serve households, including <br /> homeless households, with incomes of 60% of area median income or less. <br /> 2004 appropriated funds $174,367.00 <br /> 2. Volunteers of America - Rental Housing Mediation Service <br /> This project provides neutral rental housing mediation to both owners and tenants of low <br /> income rental properties. <br /> 2005 appropriated funds $18,080.00 - <br /> 3. Volunteers of America — Community Outreach and Support Services <br /> This is a public service, which attempts to assist families and individuals who are <br /> dependent on social services in becoming economically independent and self sufficient. <br /> 2005 appropriated funds $10,000.00 <br /> 4. Catholic Community Services - Volunteer Program Services <br /> This program will reimburse the transportation costs of volunteers providing services to <br /> clients residing within the city of Everett. <br /> 2005 appropriated funds $5,000.00 <br /> 5. Interfaith Association — Housing Project Director <br /> The Interfaith Association of Snohomish County provides an emergency shelter for families. <br /> These funds would allow for increased service for those families. <br /> 2005 appropriated funds $13,000.00 <br /> 6. Senior Services of Snohomish County — Senior Peer Counseling Program <br /> The Senior Peer Counceling Program uses trained and supervised senior volunteers to <br /> provide supportive counceling to other seniors facing difficult life challenges. These <br /> challenges include loss of loved ones and friends, health problems, retirement, relocation, <br /> loss of mobility, and other changes associated with aging. These issues often lead to <br /> depression, isolation and anxiety. <br /> 2005 appropriated funds $3,500.00 <br /> 9 <br />
