The last fare adjustment was made in 2004—at which time gas was about $1.60 per gallon. In light of
the recent volatility and uncertainty regarding the future price of fuel,we recommend that rates be reviewed
and modified as appropriate each year. Accordingly, this amending ordinance provides for per mile rate
adjustments based on the fuel price for regular unleaded gasoline as reported by the American Automobile
Association's Daily Fuel Gauge Report on the second Monday of June. Rate adjustments, if required, will be
made effective on August 15` Also included are updates to language related to driver qualifications, and a
provision to allow for rooftop placard advertising. Based on the new fare schedule, the following changes
would be implemented upon adoption:
1 Fare j Existing Proposed .
Rate Per Mile $1.80 $2 00
i Drop Rate L $1.80 : $2.50
Wait Charge I $0.50 $.060
RECOMMENDATION (Exact action requested of Council):
Adopt proposed Ordinance relating to For-Hire Vehicles, Amending Sections 30, 19, 40 and 13 of 4 9
Ordinance No. 2297-98 (Chapter 5.68 EMC).
