I visited the site,
took measurements of the existing ,onditions, ann have prepared a
"Revised Stair Plan/Entry Plan" . A copy is attached.
In order to fit the stairs in, it was necessai-y to use 10" long
treads, 1" shorter than thE Building Code now requires for
commercial structures. [10" treads are still permitted in
residences. ] These t.re:ads will be longer than the old treads,
and the risers will ba shorter than the old risers, so the new
stair will not be a; steep as the old stair.
I spoke with Steve Mi:Ller of the City of Everet Building
Department on Wednesday, August 14, at 2:30 in the afternoon to
qain permission for the variation. Steve agreed that this was a
reasonable variation from code requirements and that the new
stair would be substantially better than the old one.
I am forwarding copies of this letter and the Drawing to Jim
Fagerlie and J.D. of Heritage and to Steve Miller.
Sincerel , //l
ir .
U ,
Joe O.
