The retaining wall retrofit is <br /> bein5 requested because the existing wall does not have a footing, and the new slab is to <br /> be several inches lo•;ver than the bottom of the existing wall. This office recommends <br /> using s�•ip constr�ction techniques when perForming these retrofits, although all <br /> temporary shoring is to be provided by others. <br /> At all locations where the retained height is over 4-feet and less ihan 6-feet, detail 1 <br /> should be used (see attached) which includes pouring a new 5-foot retaining wall. <br /> Where the retained height is less than 4-feet, a curb can be poured against the existing <br /> wall to provide siabilization in accordance with detail 2. Under no circumstances should <br /> the fill exceed 6-feet above the top of the new basement slab. <br /> There is one location where there is an inierior concrete wall that does not retain soil on <br /> either side.
