Mr. Chris Lark
February 20,2001
footing drains consisting of 4-inch diameter perforated pipes encased in pea gravel shor.ld be
installed adjacent to the base of the footings. Roof down spouts should not be tied to the footing
drains. All drainage should be directed into conduits which carry runoff away from the building
and paved azeas into stortn drain systems or other appropriate outlets.
7.0 ADDITIONAL SERVICES
The recommendations presented in this report aze based on the assumption that an adequate
program of tests and observstions will be made during construction to verify compliance with
these recommendations. Modifications to our recommendations presented in this repoR may be
necessary, based on the actual conditions encoimtered during wnstruction. We recommend that
PanGEO be retained to oversee or to provide construction support services. These services
should include, but not necessarily be limited to, the following:
• Observation of subgrade preparation
• Observation of subgrade materials at footing locations
• Observation of fill placement
• Observation of temporary excavation and rockery wall construction
• Preparation of a final inspection report summarizing the results of our field monitoring
8.0 LIMITATIONS
Recommendations contained in this report aze based on a site reconnaissance, a subsurface
exploration program, review of pertinent subsurface information, and our undetstanding of the
project. The study was performed using a mutually agreed-upon scope of work.
Variations in soil conditions may exist beriveen the kcations of the explorations and the actual
conditions underlying the site. The nature and extent nf soil vaziations may not be evident until
construction occurs. If any soil con+itions ue encountered at the site that are different from
those described in this repoR, we should be immediately notified to review the applicability of
our recommendations. Additionally, we should also be notified to review the applicability of out
recommendations if there aze any changes in the project scope.
The scope of our work does not include services related to construction safety precautions and
our recommendations aze not intended to direct the contracror's methods, sequences or
procedures, except as specifically described in our report for consideration in design.
Additionally, the scope of our work specifically excludes the assessment of environmental
characteristics, paRicularly those involving haz3rdous substances.
This report may be used only by the client and for the putposes stated, within a reasonable time
from its issuazice. Land use, site conditions (both off and on-site), or other tactors including
advances in our understanding of applied science, may change over time and could materially
affect our findings. Therefore, this report should not be relied upon after 24 months from its
00-046-100 Geotech Report 8 PanGEO, Inc.

L.
i

1
