Mr. Chris Lark
February 20, 2001
footing drains consisting of 4-inch diameter perforated pipes encased in pea gravel should be
installed adjacent to thc base of the footings. RooPdown spouts should not be tied to the footing
drains. All drainage should be directed into conduiu which carry runoff away from the building
and paved areas into storm drain systems or other appropriate outlets.
7.0 ADDITIONAL SERVICES
The recommendations presented in this repoR are based on the assmnplion that an adequate
program of tests and observations will Ue made during conslruction to verify compliance with
these recommendations. Modifications to our recommendations presented in this report may be
necessary, based on the actual conditions encousrtered during construction. We recommend that
PanGEO be retained to oversee or to provide canstruction support seivices. These serviccs

,
should include, but not necessarily be limited to, the following:
• Observation of subgrade preparation
• Observation of subo ade materials at footing locations
• Observation of fill placement
• Observation of temporary excavation and rockery wall construction
• Preparation of a final inspection report summarizing the results of our firld monitoring
8.0 LIMITATIONS
Recommendations contained in this report are based on a site rcconnaissance, a subsurface
exploration program, review of pertinent subsurface infarmation, and our understanding of Uie
- project. The study was performed using a mutually agreed-upon scope of work.
Variations in soil conditions may exist between the locations of the explorations and the actual
conditions underlying the site. The nature and extent of soil variations may not be evident until
construction occurs. If any soil conditions are encountered at the site ihat are different from
tUose described in this report, we should be immediately notified to review the applicability of
our recommendations. Additionally, we sliould alsu be notified to review the applicability of our
recommendations iftlere are any changes in tUe project scope.
The scope of our work does not include services related to construction safety precautions and
our recommendations are not intended to direct the contractor's methods, sequences or
procedures, except as specifically described in our report for consideration in design.
Additionlly, the scope of our work specifically excludes lhe assessment of environmcntal
characteristics, particularly those involving Iazardous substances.
This report may be used only by lhe client and for the purposes stated, within a reasonable timc
from its isuance. Land use, site conditions (both off and on-site), or other factors including
advances in our understanding of applied science, may change over time and could materially
t affect our findings.
