Kevin Fagerstrom RE: Electrical safety concerns in my home Kevin, This morning Ele:tr�cal inspector Mike Bearda and I conducted an inspection at 531 Madison Street in response to the Electrica� issues and other concerns referred to in the attached email from the tenant that resides there. Here is a brief summary of our findings: :. A smoke alarm was found to be not functioning in the main area of the dwelling, upon inspection it was determined to be missing a battery. 2. A recently replaced gas fired hot water heater (installed last December per tenant) appears to lack an adequate combuztion air source. A permit search for the installation indicates that a required permit anci inspection approval for the replacement was not obtained. 3. Inspector Bearda observed that a number of electrical receptacles have been recentiy replaced. These 3 pin outlets lack a grounding conductor. These outlets are not correctly installed. 4. 7he main Electrical panel that serves this apartment unit is missing a"dead front. This condition presents an electrical hazard. The above conditions are defined as unsafe equipment by the IPMC. These code violations should be corrected. Permits and inspection approvals to make the necessary corrections are required.
