Ann Building, Nickerson Street, Seatt/e <br />Project manager in charge of clean-up of 4000c.yds. of soil contaminated with weathered diesel <br />fuel. Site was small and confined, and adjacent to a salmon and steelhead migratory route. <br />Dealt with regulatory and permitting agencies. Investigated alternative types of remediation <br />including in-situ bio-remediation and bio-remediallon/land farming. <br />North Sound Physical Thera,�y Building, Sfanwood <br />Project manager in charge of geoiechnical investigation and design of support of the building. A <br />drilling program revealed soft silts below the building site to considerable depth. Because time <br />was available, the choice was made to prefo2d the site rather than use piles to support the <br />building. So as not to disturb the soils at ground surface, the grass was mowed very short and a <br />fabric was laid over it. The building pad and preload were constructed by end-dumping granul2r <br />fill and compacting it to 95% of modified proctor density (ASTM 1557). Benchmarks were installed <br />at ground surface before placement of the fill and were monitored at specified intervals. When <br />analysis indicated that primary settlement was complete, the preload was removed and the <br />building constructed on the building pad using conventional spre�,d footings. <br />Camano Commons, Camano Island, Washington <br />Project manager in charge of geotechnical investigation for a commercial site for 10 buildings. <br />Numerous projects in critical areas in Island County, Skagit County.
