T llill Moore, Mayor
I
FROM Larry Callahan, Bldg. Official
DA7E September 5, 1986
suaecr 1338 Madrona
Fankhauser Addi
 /
v
G7Y OERE7T
 ' ii
t 1
l'! j'}a7 ! l' i l
On 6/1/83, application submitte to ity of Everett £or a 702 sq. ft. additi6n
to a single family residence at the above add:ess. On 6/3/B3, a permit was
issued to Rod Pankhauser to construct the addition and a fee of $140.SQ was
collected.
In Tfarch of 1984, a letter was sent to Mr. Fankhauser inquirin; as to the
tatus of the work, from the date of issuance of the permit until the date of
the letter, a no inspections had been requested. A notation on the file copy
of the letter states the work is continuing but still no indicati.ons of any
inspections.
By code, "All permits expire by limitation and become null and void if the
building or work authorized by permit is not commenced within 180 days from
the date such permit is issued, or if the building or work authorized by suct.
permit is suspended or terminated at any time after the work is connenced for
a period of 180 days. Before such work can be recormnenced, a new pennit shall
be first obtained so to do, and the fee therefor shall be one half the amount
required €or a new permit for such work,......"
Smetime in the early part of Augus[ 1986, an inspection was requested on the
original. permit (which had expired) and therefore no inspection was performed.
On eiiher August 25 or 26, 1986, Mr. Rod Fankhauser visited this officE and I
explained, not to his satisfaction, that his permit had expired. I informed
Mr. Fankhauser that I would renew his permit for one half the criginal fee, or
$70.25, and on August 27, 1986, Mr. Fakhauser renewed his pe;mit and I had
not heard the last of this.
On August 27 $ 29, 1986, the city made two more inspections, one for franing
and the other for rough-in plunbing.
This small addition has now been under construction for apgroximately 38
months and is only about 40$ complete.
Mr. Fankhauser is now aware of the 180 day factor in the building code and I
requested that he periodically call for an inspection or, if the permit is
going to expire, request an extention.
LC/jcl
0741B
