Drumheller Residence - 1400 Madrona Avenue
Water Diversion £rom Ad'acent New Construction
Gentlenen:
TELEPHONE 259-5f
AREA CODE 206
I represent Lida R. Drumheller, who is experiencing severe problems
from surface water diverted onto her property as a result of new
construction currently in proqress on the adjacent lots to the
east.
The onset of seasonal rainy weather has resulted in surface water
flooding of the Drumheller property. This conditioii ha not
occurred in the 28 years she has resided on the property.
It appears that these adjacent lots carry considerable runof% as
they form a natural drainage basin. While this su,:face water was
previously dispersed without adverse effect, tHe ne.w constructioii
has diverted substantial amounts of surface water in concentrated
amounta onto the Drumhe].ler property. The immediate problems have
heen wash-outs and flooding which raise long term concerns about
damage to the foui, dation of the residence and the integrity of the
hillside.
I understand that the contractor has taken steps to remedy this
problem by tight-lining some of the surface water past the
Drumheller residence. Mrs. Drumheller remains concerned that water
concentrated in this manner will jeopardize the integrity of the
hillside.
It is requested that your department take immediate action to
require the contractor to address this situation and develop a
drainage plan to adequately and safely handle the diverted surface
