In additlo�, Installalion <br />��+�w must also meet local government <br />provisions, codes, and Standards as <br />applicable. <br />The system piping must be <br />properly sized to ensure the <br />minimum required ilow rate at the <br />sprinkler. <br />Check for the proper model, style, <br />orifice size, and lemperalure rating <br />prior to installetion. Inslall <br />sprinklers after ihe piping is in place <br />to avoid mechanical damage; <br />replace any damaged unils. Wet <br />pipe systems must be protecled <br />from ireezing. <br />Upon comptetion oi ihe <br />installalion, the system must be <br />tested per recognized standards. In <br />the evenl oi a thread leak, remove <br />tlie unit, apply new pipe joint <br />compound or tape, and reinstall. <br />Installetton Sequence <br />Step 1• The unit musl be installed <br />� in the Pendent posilion. <br />����r <br />Step 3. Install lhe sprinkler according <br />lo ihe dimensions sliown in the <br />installalion diagrams on page two. <br />Install the escutcheon skirt onto the <br />sprinkler prior ro its engage�ient inb <br />the reducing tilling. For �acessed <br />applications, do not use ii�e push-on <br />esculcheon plate to hoid the unit (n <br />posilion The sprinkler will only <br />tunclion properly when anchored to <br />the building siructure. <br />Step 4. Hand tighten the sprinkler <br />inlo lhe filting. Thr.n use a Central <br />GB-20 Wrench lo lighten lhe unit into <br />the filting. A leak-light joint requires <br />only 7 to 14 it.-Ibs. of torque; a <br />tangenlial force of 14 to 28 Ibs. <br />detivered lhrough a 6" handle will <br />deliver adequate torque. Torque <br />levels over 21 ft: Ibs. may distort the <br />orifice seal, resulting in leakage. <br />GB-20 Sprinkler Wrench <br />(Part tt1125) <br />Cautlon: Special care must be <br />taken when installing sprinklers with a <br />CPVC system. Sprinklers must be <br />installed atter the manu(ao�urer's <br />recommended setting time for the <br />prlmer and cement to ensure that <br />nellher eccumulate wNhin the <br />sprinkler. <br />Special care must be taken when <br />installing with a copper system. <br />Sprinkler� must be installed on!� after <br />the inside of the sprinkler drop and <br />associated fitlings have been wire <br />�are & <br />IVlaintenance <br />Sprinklers must be handled <br />caretully. They must not be trans- <br />ported or stored where ambient <br />temperature may exceed 100'F/ <br />38°C. For best results, store them in <br />a cool, dry locatlon in the original <br />shipping package. <br />Do not Install sprinklers that have <br />been dropped or visibly damaged. <br />Sprinklers should never be painted, <br />coated, {�lated, or altered In any <br />other way from manufactured <br />condition or they may not tunction <br />preperly. Any sprinklers altered in <br />such manner must be replaced. <br />The owner is responsible tor the <br />proper operating condition ol all fire <br />protection devices and accessorles. <br />The NFPA standard 25 enlilled, <br />"Inspection, Testing and Mainte- <br />nance ol Water-Based Fire Protec- <br />tion Sysfems", contains guidelines <br />and minimum meintenance require- <br />ments.
