We also observed tha[foundation subgrades had
bcen prepared on tneorth und soutli sides of the existing four.dation footprint. Poundations were also
prepared tor a new carport structurc locatcd in thc soutlicrn region of the lot.
zcavation depth for the plunned new foundutions rungud from approximately 0 to 2.5 feet for the
plamed residcntial structures. We probed thc excavations for the plauned residential additions witli a
half inch diametcr stecl praUc rod ad the probe rod penetraicd 1 to 2.5 feet in depth. SuUade soils
consistcd of nativc wcaUicrcd brown silty fine sand witlorganics nnd tracc grlvcl mid gray sand and
bravel. It is our opinion that tle foimdation sabgradcs should Ue overexcavated prior to pauring
Ibotings. Ve slould Ue rctaincd ta evaluatc overexcavation of planned new foundation suUgradcs. We
cxpcct that ioundation overcxcavation would Uc on the ordcr of l foot in depth in die western lialf'of the
residcncc at 2504IIoward Strcct and 2 icci in dcpth for thc castcm half of thc structurc at 2504 and
droughotrt the cntire area of tlic structure at 2510 Howard Strcet.
Wc also undcrstar.d thc intcrior colurtms will be pourcd. In thc arca of thc planncd westcro structure at
2504 we also oliservcd diat fill had Ucen placed to backfill an excavation made to removc a septic
systc:n. We urc net uwre of campuclion lcst performed on tliis Uackfill. If interior wiumns 1re planr,l
in tltc location of this Uacl:fill or witlin u 1 [Iorizontal to 1 Verticzl inclination from the base of thc
('ooting to the bnsc of the excavation madc for thc septic system drain ficld, thc Uackfill should be
removcd and repluced with structural fiil. Structural fill Uy defnition is fill placzd under the superi,i, :
oPn gcotechnical profcssional.
Sclticmcnt:md crticking was observcd along the found, riion wnlls for die existing structure. It uppc:us
that the existing struchrc has Uecn onsite for an extendcd period of time. 'Ve would expect thal tlis
sctdcmcnt would havc nccurccd duc to tlic suUgradc soils thc esisting structurc was built on. Wc do nnt
I<now if ilis setlement is complele. Some differential settlemcnt could occur betwecn the existin
foundations and planned new loundations. Wc arc not awre of huw the new Foundation will Uc
conncctcd to thc cxisting founclution. ^ !//J
  ' -
' ; v
AttachiucnL• Siyied: _ _ >i
Distribution: ,' /
/
A Lv. ,i1 E,

:
; 4

';
r
.; ;s
>:
_•t
..k-,..: -
-'` t f ; °,. : , rYA t v = ' 1l `
   .a ac,+ tr v 7t t 1 1. li 'cJ4 )B a ..
r., . ,'.vJ_will.r'w.a"cu.':`Jm.n°S'a9bF^.,f :! . !V t .4„ .... , .) i . , .. . ltits .y+'riiijS.+d`i' ,
