We present a bricf summary of thc subsurface condi[ions in the follo�ving <br /> n;,����a�i,,. r„�a detailed description of the subsurface conditions>the. loes of the te,t pits sho�ld <br /> bc rcvic�ved. <br /> Subsurfacc Contlitions I <br /> Our explorations genernlly encountered appro�imatcly 25 to 3 feet of fill in '�est Pits ('rP) 1 and <br /> 2 on Uie north lot. The south lo[ was apparently graded to native soils along the north end based <br /> on TP 3 and 4, although intilVation drains locally disturb diese soils. Ne espect there could Ec <br /> fill in thc soudieast portion of this site based on tlie nearby topography, but wem unahle to <br /> explore tha[area due to the existing struc[ure. <br /> Ne encoun[ered loosc to medium dense to dense sand with varying amounts of gravel, silt, and <br /> cobbles beneath the fill in TP-I and 2. 7'his is similar:o die soils encountered below the topsoil <br /> in TP-4. TP-3 was abandoned at 2.7 feet when an infilvation trench was encountcred. We <br /> intcr��reted these soils to be advance out�vash sands. The upper Z [0 35� fee[ of tl�e sand was <br /> weathered nnd Ioose to medium dense. The advance ouhvash became medium dense to dense <br /> bclow the �vcathered horizon and estended belo�v thc buttom of TP-1, 2, and �t. These suils are <br /> simil.ir to those encounlercd in our previous inves[igution ro the southeast of thc site and we <br /> e�pect tliey underlic the entire si[e at depth. <br /> f Ipdrulugic Conditions <br /> \Ve did no[ observc indications uf ground water scepaee in the test pi�s. Perched ground wa[er <br /> conditions sonte[imes occur in outwash soils during the wetter !imes uf the year due to vaq'ing <br /> silt content. Perched water occurs when surface water intiltrates through less dense, more <br /> penneable soils and accunuilates on tup of the underlyine, Iess permeable soils.
