His concern is the City's Ordinar.:.e requiring one aad a
hlf parking spaces per unit.
IIert asked me what our experience had ben regarding the limited parking for our
Baker View Highrise building. I indi.cated we had appror.imately 22 spaes for 151
units ahich houses approximatel^. 200 senior citizens and this seemed to be adequate
for their needs and did not present a probler.
In addition, the proposals submitted in connection with a congrega.te facility for
the City of Eveiett, likewise had about the same percentage of patking spaces for
the numUer uf uni.ts a does our Fiiohrise.
Therefore, since Cro.iin Homes has designed his units to serve the elderly (enclosures)
and since we at the Housing Authorit encourage decent, safe, sanitary and affordable
housing for the elderly and in view oE the following exerpts from the Housing Polii:
Committee sbdy dated September 19, 1979:
Recommendatien II11 "Modify or waive specifted narking requirements for
mul[i-family unfts designed soley for the elderly."
Rccommendation 1f17 ....in addit.ion, incentives should Ue provided for
builders and developers wia provi.de low-inome housing."
we encourage your department to look fawebly upon Cronin Homes development with
a variance to your parking space ordi.ance.
Thank you for your consideration snd should you have any qus[icns, please r.all
upon me.
Very truly yours,
.
