Insp., City Hall 2_ ?
Mr. Frank Bennett, Planning Engineer, City Hall
Board of Adjustment, City Hall, Everett, Wash.
Dear Sirs:
Regarding the new Merricrest Nursing Home which closely adjoins my
residence at 3503 Hoyt, a man recently sums up my continual and adamant protests
over the past several years - "Too much nursing home on too small a tract."
The garbage collection and can wash area lies close to my bedroom and
dining room windows, as does the door which handles, as I understand it, can
garbage, supplies and ambulances for the entire 160 bed nursing hone.
I must say that the feeling among people in general now ranges from
sympathy for our situation to actual shock that such things could occur.
The can wash faucets and traffic door are 23 feet from my bedroom window
with a potential of these facilities approaching to 6 feet.
I am not an architect but I have heard it said recently that for a close -
in, city nursing home of this size, a special room on the alley should be
provided for garbage collection, can wash area and garbage pick-up and that
the heavy traffic door, now located 23 feet from my bedroom window should be
located at a space provided on the 180 feet of alley.
I now request that while the building is still in construction that these
elements which I believe to have the potentials of full fledged nuisances, and
any other potential elements, actual or planned, that might be injurious to
health, or offeensive to the senses or an obstruction to the free use of property
so as to essentially interfere with the comfortable enjoyment of the life and
property, be removed from my lot line and a review of this situation and a
check of my facts be ascertained by coming to the site and standing right on the
ground and I will be glad to meet the representatives from any office at any
time to point out these things first hand, so that these facilities can be
re -located while the building is still in construction and less expensive or
troublesome for us all.
If any man concerned with this would stand here and answer for himself:
"How would I like to have such facilities at such close range to my own home?"
I am confident of general agreement.
Yours very sincerely,
James F.
