May 22, 2013 <br /> The regular meeting of the Everett City Council was called to order at <br /> 12:30 p.m., May 22, 2013 in the City Council Chambers of the Everett City <br /> Hall, Council Member Gipson presiding. Upon roll call it was found that <br /> Mayor Stephanson and Council Members Roberts, Murphy, Gipson, <br /> Bader, and Stonecipher were present. Council Members Moore and <br /> Affholter were excused. <br /> Council Member Murphy led the Pledge of Allegiance. <br /> The minutes of the May 15, 2013 Everett City Council meeting were <br /> approved as printed. Council Member Gipson abstained from the vote. <br /> MAYOR <br /> Mayor Stephanson reported on his participation in a rally in Olympia last <br /> Monday relative to the transportation package. He remarked that due to <br /> the urgency of transportation infrastructure and some economic <br /> development opportunities, the Governor and the Legislature are pushing <br /> to pass a transportation package this year. <br /> COUNCIL <br /> Council Member Murphy reported on his attendance at a Forterra session <br /> at the Everett Station where they discussed a vision for the area around <br /> the transit station. <br /> Council Member Roberts stated that the Transportation Advisory <br /> Committee met last week and approved the 6-year Transportation <br /> Improvement Project. He distributed a "Sounder's Go to the Game" <br /> schedule to each of the council members as well as reusable water <br /> bottles provided by the city's Public Works Department. He advised that, <br /> related to the Mayor's comments, there is a resolution being drafted in <br /> support of the transportation funding package. He requested that it be <br /> placed on the agenda for next week's city council meeting. <br /> Council Member Bader expressed concern regarding the playground fires <br /> at Garfield Park and the ongoing vandalism being done in the city's parks. <br /> 144 <br />
