. Construction stagin, areas musi oc located outside of environmentally sensitive areas and their
buffcrs, uniess detcrmined by the Planning Director to be infeasible. Streams, wetlands, buCfers.
staging areas and construction limits shail be clearly shown on const;uction plans. Conswction
limits shall be clearly marked in the ficld with orange construction fcncing.
. Work shall be done so as to minimize turbidity, erosion, and other water quality impacts.
. Proper erosion and sediment control measures shall be Colloved to prevent sediments Crom
entering creeks or wetlands. Erosion control measures shall bc approved by the Depariment of
Engineering and Public Services and/or agencies with jurisdiction. Measures may indude, but not
bc limited to, placing plyood across the area where equipment will operate; mulching the
wetland areas where equipment will operate; placing wood chips atop a Ilexible mat to help
prevent compaction (the wood chips ar.d mat must be removed following conslruction); placing
silt fences and hay bales bchvecn construction areas and all adjacent etlands and slreams; and
placing ecology blocks between consWction areas and streams or wetlands whcn a tcmporary fill
is used for roads, ete.
• Erosion control mcasures shall be in place and inspecled prior to commencement of work. All
erosion control stnictures shall Uc inspccted regularly to ensure they are maintained in working
ordcr.
. VVhen operating machinery in or near water, extreme care shall bc taken to prevent any petrolcum
products, cement, chemicals, or other toxic or deletcrious materials from entering the water. If a
spill does occur, work shall be stopped immediately and Gcology's Spill Response Section
contacted.
. Equipment mainlenance shall not occur in or adjacent to wctlands and strearns.
. Aftcr construction, thc sitc must be retuned to its original grades. Carc must bc takcn to not drain
wetlands or aiter water flows or patterns.
. Whenever feasible, if wedand plant specics arc not invasivc, thcy should be removed prior to
construction and placcd aside in a shady damp location, such as under wet burlap sacks.
Following construction, thcy should be replaced in die wetland area.
• Rcegetation: At a minimum, crosion control revegetation is rcquired in all cleared areas and
should include herbaccous ground cover that does not interfere with establishment of native
vegetation. If]ong-tenn revegetation is required, it should be accornplished during the next most
favorable time of year for the paRicular vegetation to ensure thc highest level oC success. (Note:
If revegetation docs not occur immediately following recontouring of the site, adequate erosion
con[rol measures must bc taken.) Native species compatible with preconstruction vegetation
patterns shall bc used for revegelation. Degraded emergent sites, such as Reed canary grass fields,
shall be replan:d with specics that are representative of a higher quality emergent, scrub-shrub or
forested wetland. Lf revegetation is required, monitoring should occur once a year for a minimum
oC ho years. (SEPA Vatcr, Plant and Animal, and Land and Shorelinc Usc Policies)
i3
