( .
• Construction staging areas must be located outside of environmentally sensitie arcas and their
buffers, unless determined by the Planning Director ro be infeasible. Streams, wedands, buffers,
staing areas and construction limits shall be clearly shown on construction plans. Construc[ion
limits shall be cleazly marked in the field with orange construction fencing.
• Work shall be done so as to minimize mrbidity, erosion, and other water quality impacts.
• Proper erosion and sediment control measures shall be followed to prevent sediments from
entering creeks or wedands. Erosion control measures shall be approve:d by the Department of
Enineering and Pub]ic Services ancVor agencies with jurisdiction. Measures may include, but not
be limited to, placing plywood across the area vhere equipment wiil operate; mulching the
weUand areas where equipment will operate; placing wood chips afop a tlexible mat to help
prevent compaction (the wood chips and ma! must be removed following construction); placing
siit fences and hay bales between construction areas and all adjacent wedands and streams; and
placirg ecology blocks between construction areas and streams or wetlands when a temporary fill
is used for roads, etc.
• Erosion control measures shall be in place and inspected prior to commencement of work. All
erosion control structures shall be inspected regularly to cnsure the/ are maintained in working
order.
• When operting machinery in or neur ,ater, extremc care shall be [aken to prevent any pevoleum
Products, cement, chemicals, or o[her toxic or deleterious matenfls trom entenng [he vater. If n
spil] does occur, work shall be stopped immediately and Ecoloy's Spill Response Section
contacted.
• Equipment maintenance shall not occur in or adjacent to wetlands and streams.
• After construction, the site must be returned to its original eracies. Care must be taken to not drain
wedands or alter water flows or patterns.
• Whenever feasible, if wetland plant species are not invasive, [hey should be removed prior to
; construction and placed aside in a shady damp location, such as under wet burlp aci:s.
Folloving conswction, they should be replaced in the wefland area.
• Revegetation: At a minimum, erosion control revegetation is required in all cleared areas and
should include herbaceous a ound cover that does not inteiere aith establishment of native
veeetation. If long-term revegetation is required, it shauld Ue accomplished during the next most
`avorable time of year for the particular veetation to ensure the hiohest level of success. (Note:
If revegetation does not occur immediately tollowine recntouring of[he site, adequate erosion
con[rol measures must be taken.) Native species compatible wi[h preconstruction vegeta[ion
patterns shal] be used for revegetation. Deaded emerg, ent sites, such as Reed canary grass fields,
shall be replanted with species that are representative oP a hieher quality emerent, scrub-shrub or
farsted wedand. If reveetation is required, monitoririg should occur once a ye:ir for a minimum
of r.No years. (SEPA Mater, Plant and Animal, and Lrmd and Shoreline Use Policies)
1
