Ladies and Gentlemen: �r, I was unaWare that a permit Nas required, this deck was constructed �rith- out one, The deck Ras built by out of state friends who are not contractore. ps requested by ti►ritten notice from the Public Works Dept„ 1 submitted a re- quest for a permit on 8-29-88, along w3th plans etc. I was notlfied the follow- ing xeek that although the tieck is constructed xithin the limit of 42" irom ground level :o the deck floor at the houae, because of the slope ot the lot. the back corner is over the allowed height, at 54" from the ground. To reetify this wuuld entail either loxering the aeck 2 it, or making it 2 ft. shorter i❑ length. Both plans •ould be expensive pro�ects for a siegle incooe household. Lowering it xould be almost impossible Nithout complete re- construo- t3.on, and the end which would need to be sho.^tened hae a 65" Privacy fence which roula have to be removed, to allow for shortening the deck,and re-constructed xhea finished. Rhis deck construction ia no way hinders any view from adjacent properties or is in�urious to any preperty in the vicinity. I reepectfully reouest a variance to allow the 42" limit to be waived in this caee.
