ill
Van Derbeken and Keck Properties Geotechnical Services Report
Lorimer Road Everett, Washington
SUMMARY
Due to the presence of an ongoing landslide that is located upslope of and encompasses most of
the width of the Van Derbeken property, and a portion of the width of the Keck property, we
recommend installation of a soldier pile retaining wall to mitigate against further movement.
The wall should be designed by a licensed and experienced structural engineer in accordance
with the geotechnical design parameters provided herein. Until the wall can be designed and
installed we recommend that the entire area of the landslide be covered with sheet plastic to
prevent further saturation of the impacted soils. Runoff' from the plastic sheeting should be
directed away from the house by installation of a shallow Swale or interceptor drain. If the slide
continues to move after being covered with plastic the owner (Van Derbeken only) should
consider evacuating the house until the retaining wall can be installed.
Thank you for the opportunity to be of service on this project. Should you have any questions
regarding this matter, please do not hesitate to contact our office.
Sincerely,
as
11
ed
Gary A. Flowers
Gary A.
