Importance: H�3h Good morning, Last Friday we determined ihat there was a need to gather additional in(ormation about an upcoming event at the "barn" on Larimer Road. There have been past indications that the property owner, Jeif Schock, is conducting a commercial venture at "the bam," a structure which has not been a�proved (or assembly use. EPD had received some very credible information en Thursday that a galhering was planned for Saturday night May 31st. The information was that there might be a large crowd gathering for music, food and possibly alcohol service, bul the information was not sutfcient to warrant enForcement aclion ahead of time. We decided to gather additional informalion by asking two E'rD detectives to attend the event undercover. Al�hough lhe cffic?r s2(ety issues were relatively low, we kepl lhe in(ormation ahout the detective.; involvement pretty close so as not to unnecessarily creale any issues. Thanks to Capt. Ahvood and her team for pulling this together on very short notice. The report we have irom Saturday night is that cn arrival it was noted that there was not a cover charge (or admission, but lhere was already an opening ar,t going so it is unknown whether people who amved earlier were required to pay to get in. There were a minimum of 80 people on the loft of ihe bam. This loft has only one enirance/exit, which is by a st2;rcase on the outside of the bam. Food was being sold at the event and there was alcohol, but it was "BYOB". As planned, ihe detectives reported lhe situation to those who have expertise in code issues. A second thanks to Brad Olson and his chair o( command, and to Tony Lee and liis chain o( command, for iheir availability Friday aftemoon to help determine whal the detecti��es should watch for and for their work Saturday evening to determine whether or not it was appropriate lo empty the premises. I see (rom an email I re�eived irom Glen Martinsen that the decision was made to deal with the matter administratively this week. I am going to be on vacation beginning Wednesday afterncon, so would very much appreciate it if you could find time today or tomorrow to assist me in policy direction and strategy regaraiug these premises.
