Of this area, 410.5 s.f. are on the main level
and the remaining 90 s.f is on the upper level. The analysis is done by calculating the
Target UA value (UAi). and a proposed UA value (UA). These calculations are done by
using the provided equations (1 and 3) from chapter 5 of the 1995 Washington State
Energy Code. The proposed UA is to be less than the UAT. The calculations and analysis
is as follows. Please see the attached copies of the code charts for reference to the
proposed values.
UAT = UwAw+ UnowAnow _F UcAc + UFAF 4 UecAac ' 11ccA(.c + UI)AD + FSPs
UA = UwAw+ UnowAnow + UaAc + UFAF + UtzcAxc + UccAcc , UDAD + .,Ps
UA UAT
U
= Thermal resistance value
A.
= Area in square footage
W
= opaque above grade wall
BGW *
= Below grade wall
G
= glazing
F
= floor over unconditioned space
KC
= roof / ceiling
CC
= cathedral ceilings (single rafter / joist vaulted)
D
= opaque door
I's .
= lineal feet of concrete slab perimeter
* These areas are not applicable in the following analysis.
Tn,.of VA Annlude
UA =
Area
S .
