Creative Errgineering Options Nc.
A`; m practicing in the geosciei ices
January 31, 2001
Mr. Shawn & Ms. Kathy Hoban
500 Laurel Street
Everett, Washington 98201
Dear Mr. & Ms. Hoban:
00-2267
We are pleased to submit herewith our report entitled "Geotechnical Engineering Study,
Proposed Three Story Addition, 500 Laurel Drive, Everett, Washington." The primary purposes
of this study were to evaluate and characterize the subsurface soil and groundwater conditions in
the area of the proposed addition, and to develop geotechnical opinions and recommendations for
site earthwork operations, foundation design and slue stability. We proceeded with our
services on the basis of your November 20, 2000 written au;horization.
Based on observed conditions, it is our professional opinior. that it is geotEchnically feasible to
construct the proposed addition essentially as desired. The proposed addition may be supported
on conventional spread footing foundations bearing on either the thoroughly redensed in-place
medium dense shallow silty sand or , if preferred, on st least two feet of compacted structural fill
placed over properly redensified in-place native soil.
Based on our geotechnical analyses it is also our professional opinion that the sites' westem
perimeter slope is genera!ly stable in its current configuration under statc and dynamic
conditions. Since the siope is unlikely to be disturbed by construction sirce the new building will
be at leas•t twenty (20) feet away from the crest, we believe the slope should also be expected to
remain stable for the reasonable lifetime of the residence.
We appreciate the opportunity to provide this service and look fonvard to working with you
during the: construction phase cf this project. Should you have any questions regarding this report,
please call.
ery truly yours,
CREATIV'E ENGINEER!NG OPTIONS, INC.
—
Gien Mann, P.E.
Fresident
gm.raoan Roaqenlwl Apd,qn Ropct'e07a
5418 159th Place NE • Redmond, WA 98052 •(425) 883-6889 • FAX (4251867-96Cr3 • www.ceogeo.mm ;
