GEOTECHfVICAL ENGINEERING STUDY
PROPOIED THREE STORY ADDITION
500 LAUREL DRIVE
EWERETT, WASHINGTON
00-2267
INTRODUCTION
ueneral
As requested, this report summarizes the reslts of our limited geotechnical
engineering study for the project. To the best of our understanding, the project
incorporates thE construction of a new three-story addition along, roughly, the
western side of the existing single family residence. We proceeded with our
services on the basis of Mr. Hoban's November 20, 2000 written authorization.
The primary purposes of our tudy were to explore and characterize the subsurface
soil and groundwater conditions beneath the general area of the proposed
construction, and to supplement these data with geotechnical and geological
information readily available in our library and files. Our limited site exploration and
data evaluation wese ihen used as a basis for foRnulation of geotechnical
recommendations ior design and construction of building foundations and floor
slabs, site preparatn and earthwork operations, fill piacement and compaction,
retaining walis, the sites' susceptibility to liquefaction undersEismic conditions, the
stability of the sites westem slope, and development of site drainage and erosion
control measures.
The site is located approximately as shown on the Vicinity Map, Piate 1. The
{ general layout and topography of the property is presented on the attached Site
I Plan, Plate 2. This site plan also shows the aproximate location of our
exploratory boring.
This report addresses the geote;;nnical aspects of site develcpment only. It does
not address any enviror.mental, wetland or biological aspects of the site
conditions, such as the potntial presence of toxic or hazardous conditions or
buried tanks, orofwetlands. fthe environmental aspects of site development need
