Geotechnical Engineering Study Page 4
00-2267 Three Story Addition - 500 Laurel Street, Everett
January 31, 2001
for use in concrete floor slab design, or axial, lateral and uplift
capacities for driven-in-place steel pin-piles to develop
supplemental foundation support, if appropriate,
■ Evaluation of the potential magnitude and rate of total and
differential settlement likely to occur under the imposed
building addition dead and live loads,
■ Provision of geotechnical recommendations for design of
buried below ground retaining walls to include active and
passive equivalent fluid weights and a fictionai resistance
coefficient,
■ Evaluation of the stability of the sites' steeper westem
perimeter bluff slope under static and dynamic (earthquake)
conditions,
■ Evaluation of the sites' potential for liquefaction under
earthquake conditions and, if appropriate, an estimate of the
potential magnitude of liquefaction setlement that might
occur,
■ Provision of geotechnical recommenaations for seismic
design, including the 1997 UBC criteria for site profile,
horizontai acceleration, and Ca and Cv coefficients,
■ Development of a geotechnical opinion regarding the
appropriate minimum setback distance from the nearby
western bluff slope,
■ Provision of geotechnical recommendations for short and
long term site drainage and erosion control measures, and
■ Provision of four copies of a final vritten report summarizing
the above informatio.
13
3
