One of the notes was notifying the contractor
that the awning muat be supported entirely from the building and be retractaUle,
in compliance with Section 4506 of the building code.
A building permit for the second floor remodel was issued on February 10,
1975, 8 days after the application. At thie time, the app??ant was notified
that we could ieaue a permit for the awning but the poate wculd have to be
inetalled through a right-of-way use permit, At this time, and on several
occaeiona thereafter, the applicant was adviaed that the permit to erect the
awning, in compliance with tlie building code, would be isaued upon receipt
of a letter atating that the avaning would be retractable and supported completely
from the building.
On March 4, 1975, application was made for a Right-of-Way Use Permit by
Beata Seibold.
in normal routing of the application, iY was determined that the awning was in
direct conflict with the building code. On the eame day, Mr. Kines requeated that Mr. Ir :loveki pro%ide
the Engineering Department with the appropriate informat` so the permit
could be ieaued. As it turned out, Mr. Kozlovski did not ,ave the information
that Mr. Haggard said would clear the iasue. Mr, Kinea tried to contact
Mr. Haggard to tell him that Mr. Kozlovski did not have the appropriate
information. After not reaching Mr. Haggard, Mr. Kinea inatructed Hank Milla
to get in touch with him. On April 10, 1975, Hank Mills phoned Mr, Haggard's
office and left a measage for him to send us a letter stating that the posts are
non-aupportive, decorative only.
On April 16, 1975, a letter was received from Robert Haggard stating that
". . . given minor modifications. . .
