Everett, WA 98201
, To Whom This may concern:
On Monday, January 31, 1972 an inspection was made by this office
to investigate the structural integrity of the building located
at the Northwest corner of the intersection of Iiewitt and Oakes.
The building is presently occupied by the American Hotel and the
Circus Tavern.
The investigation, requested by Mr. John Farrens, Jr of the
City Building Pepartment, revealed that the building is an
ittunediate public h.zard due to vertical settlements and horizontal
disnlacements of walls and floors, resulting in cracking of
walls, tilting oi floors and in general disturbing the structural
continuity.
A moderate earthquake could quite conceivably destroy the building
completely.
A gusty etorm may cause some of the many loose bricks to come
doxn in the streets.
We feel that from a structural point of view this building is
unsafe and beyond the point, where it could be restored to a
safe structure.
\gp.
