WA. <br /> Recent changes in tne rear exitway have seriously compromised the capability <br /> of evacuating this building in an emergency. <br /> � The Uniform Building Code reauires ri+o legal exits whe� the occupant load is <br /> i ten or nore on the secand story of a residential occupancy. <br /> Wss oE the rear door and stairway to the graund has resulted in only wie <br /> legal exit for the building. The emergency exit as presently constituteA <br /> opens onto a €ire escape balcony. The balcony has a vertical ladder which <br /> j ends eight to ten feet fr«n the qroim�l. To canplicate matters, when the door <br /> is open it effectively closes off access to the ladder. <br /> Suh a syste+n is canpletely unacceptable as a required second exit.
