DAVIS, OfdNER OF THE HIGH STREET PROERoF EVEaerr, eveaerr wasHiNcroN
Afcer you left the meeting with Mr. Uavis yesterday, I proceede' to explain to
him that if he sold the houses and the new owner/s wanted to repair the
buildings, the City would certainly work with the new owners to accomplish the
repair work and not demolish the houses.
I did advise him that if nothing was done on his behalf to rehabilitate the
houses or to sell the houses and let someone else rehabi itate them, I wold
proceed with actions to demolish these homes. I further explained ta him the
prablems these hames presented to the neighborhaod.
I also advised Mr. Davis that I would keep him informed of every action taken
by the City from the calling of bids for demolition to the actual demolition,
if it got that far, and that he would be informed prior [o the action taking
place.
Mr. Dnvis did not stay very long after you lef[ as he had to get back home.
Two of the neighbors called yeaterday to find out if Council had adopted the
Resolutions for Demolition. They were elated to find out that the Resolitions
had been a'pted, and I explained that ahould Mr. Davis sell the houses and
someone wanted to repair them, I would back docm on the demolition. The
neighbora did not aeem to find that hard to deal with.
Mr. George Cogdill, who lives directly to the south of the houses and had put
'' his house up for sale as a result of the condition of these houses, has taken
. his house off the market.
