To: Jim Langus From; Marian Dent � 4 Date: July 31, 1984 Subject: Abatement procedures Re Dan Robbins I would like to clarify the procedures that will be used during the process of our abatement concerning 6719 Highland. This process is in accordance with the codes we enforce. 1 2 A title search is ordered prior to anything else being done. A Building Official's Notice and Order is composed then sent to or served on each individual noted on the title report. 3. In the Notice and Order the owners are 9iven 60 days to vacate the premises. The owners are given the option of demolishing or repairing the building in accoi•dance with present day codes. Al1 required permits for demoiition or repair must be obtained within 60 days of the Order. They are then given 90 days from the Order to complete the work (according to the code, but once a permit is issued it is valid for 180 days from the date of 155U0�. 4. Anyone having ownership or interest in the title of the property is given the opportunity to appeal from the Notice and Order within 30 days from service of the Notice and ('rder. 5. If no appeal is filed with the Building Official, the title to the property is clouded until the building has been demolisfied or repaired. 6. If thE Notice and Order has not been complied with and no appeal has been filed at the end of 90 days, then a Resolution for Demolition of the building is submitted to the City Council. Keep in mind that this is just a very basic run through of the procedures. There are times when events take place that warrant a change in the time spectrum as well as the procedures.
